Starfighter - They wanted to conquer the sky

TV Movie

Synopsis

Inspired by true events: During the Swinging Sixties, Germany experiences a time of great permissiveness. The upswing is in full swing, the belief in progress is unbroken. You can finally be somebody again. In the midst of the "Cold War", the still young Bundeswehr buys the most modern fighter aircraft in the world in a deal worth billions on behalf of Defence Minister Franz-Josef Strauß: the Starfighter. But of the 916 Starfighters ordered, 262 crash. 116 pilots die. One of the biggest scandals in German post-war history.

Against this background, the film tells the story of a woman who fights for the fatally injured pilots and their widows, for justice and her great love. And against a seemingly overpowering alliance of politics, business and the military.
